Vada Pav

VADA PAV-by-Rekha
Ingredients:
1 Kg boiled Potatoes(meeku enta kaavalo anta use chesukondi)
2 cups Gram Flour (Besan)
Turmeric powder
Oil for frying
Salt as per the taste
.Pav (A kind of bun known as Pav. Usually the outer surface is little rough, looks like a burger bun but smaller than that. Check for the proper one in your groceries. Do not buy sweet pav as it will spoil the taste.)
Masala:
1 small piece Ginger
4-5 flakes Garlic4-5 nos
. Green Chillies
1/2 cup Coriander leaves (chopped)
For tempering :
1 tea spoon Turmeric Powder
Curry Leaves
1 teaspoon Mustard seeds & 2 teaspoon Oil
Method :
Grind ginger, garlic and green chillies together into a paste. Peel and mash boiled potatoes. Add ginger-garlic-green chilies paste, coriander leaves, and salt to it. Then take 2 teaspoon of oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds. As soon as they start spluttering, add turmeric powder & curry leaves. Pour this tempering on the potato mixture & mix it properly. Make small balls of this potato mixture. ( You can make flat balls by pressing them in palms) Now add some salt & turmeric powder to the gram flour . Mix it together. Add some water to make a thick batter. Remove the lumps. Heat some oil in a pan. Dip the balls in gram flour and deep fry till golden brown. Slit the Pav keeping the base intact & spread Garlic Chutney or Green Chutney on the inner sides of it. Place the vada into it. And enjoy the Indian Burger!

Bread Halva

1. Contributor: Radha
here is the recipe.. i used to make like this.

Cooking Time: 30 mts
Serves 6-7 persons

Ingredients:
3/4 cup – 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1 loaf bread
6-8 cardamoms (elachi)
2 tbsps almonds (badam)
2 tbsps cashewnuts
1 lt milk (low fat)

1 ¼ cup sugar (increase or decrease as per your taste)
1 Tear the bread into bit sized pieces. Heat three fourth cup of ghee in a cooking vessel and add the bread pieces and fry them till they turn a golden brown.
2 Grind elachi, almonds and cashewnuts (leave a few toasted almonds and cashewnuts aside for garnish) to a fine paste.
3 Meanwhile boil the milk, add sugar and keep stirring it till it blends into the milk. Add the fried bread pieces and the remaining ghee to this mixture.
4 Let it simmer till the bread pieces turn soft and cook in the milk mixture. Combine the nuts paste. Garnish with the toasted almonds and cashewnuts.
4 Serve warm or refrigerate until chilled and serve. It tastes good both warm and cold.
